Teen Development Professional

Job Summary
Boys & Girls Club of Washington County is looking for energetic, organized, and responsible individuals who are interested in spending their time being positive role models in the life of a Teen to join our organization in our After School Program. This position will entail working with Teens ages 13 to 18 that are enrolled in our Teen program, The Club. Applicants must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED and a valid ID.
The Teen Development Professional position provides direct instruction and supervision to teen members of Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. The Teen Development Professional is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of a broad range of teen programs, teen activities, teen services, teen nights, and teen special events during the school year.
Job duties for this part-time position include but are not limited to: supervision of teens, planning, implementation, and supervision of a broad range of activities and programs geared specifically for teens within the core program areas of: Education and Career Development, Character and Leadership Development, Health and Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness, and Recreation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experiences Required
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with teen members to ensure trust and confidence in them.
- Work with teens to develop academic and career goals and a plan for obtaining them.
- Promote and develop leadership skills in teen members.
- Ensure a clean, safe, healthy and positive Club environment.
- Provide supervision, guidance and act as role models to all Club members.
- Safely transport members to field trips and or special events using club vehicle.
- Learn, implement and supervise nationally recognized teen programs and all activities associated with the teen program while promoting and stimulating program participation.
- Maintain daily attendance reports and other clerical tasks.
- Monitor programs, services and activities to ensure the safety of all members.
- Maintain maintenance, cleanliness and order of the Club and equipment.
- Assume responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations and Programs and the Executive Director.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Willingness to meet training requirements.
- Follow all policies and procedures.
- Flexibility when changes need to be made and dealing with a variety of situations.
- Supervise and organize Teen Nights and 5th Quarters.
Additional Information
- Shift schedule: Monday - Friday approximately 3:15 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Additional hours allotted for lesson plans, activity planning, special events, staff training and staff meetings.
- Teen Nights: Every Friday night from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
- 5th Quarter: Cub football season on Friday home games from 8:00 P.M. to 12 A.M.
- Biweekly staff meetings: Every other Thursday approximately 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
- Monthly Saturday staff training: One Saturday of the month approximately 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
- All Staff are required to sub a shift at the Burton Unit every two months.
- Enrichment activities will be included.
- Opportunity for advancement is available to all staff.
Qualifications and Characteristics Required
- Must be able to perform duties under general supervision with high degree of initiative and good judgment.
- Must be able to attend to details of record keeping with accuracy.
- Must be able to handle a volume of work.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with children, parents, staff, teachers, Unit Coordinator and the Director of Operations and Programs.
- Must be able to follow through with oral and written instructions.
- Must possess adequate visual, auditory, and motor skills in order to take care of children.
- Must be able to exhibit tact and understanding when dealing with children, parents, and staff.
- Physical Requirements: Helping children grow, learn, and gain new skills can be very rewarding. The work is sometimes routine but new activities and challenges mark each day. Child care can be physically and emotionally taxing, as workers constantly stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift (50 pounds constantly) to attend to each child's interests and problems.
Knowledge, Skills and Experiences Required
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be able to read and write effectively.
- High School Diploma or GED
- First Aid and CPR certifications (We will train).
- Valid driver’s license may be required to drive Club vans.
